Sean Crotty, MPH, Doctoral Dandidate

Sean has forged his most valuable connections with people.

It was his keen interest in holistic health that led him to earn a Master’s of Public Health from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. While he originally expected his degree would apply to his career in international health, he was struck by perhaps our greatest global health crisis: mental health.

Our modern and colonized society doesn’t lend itself naturally to mental health; in fact, depression, burnout, disconnectedness, trauma, and anxiety plague vast swaths of our population. Yet, they’re hard to talk about. But it’s getting easier.

Sean specializes in Jungian depth psychology and eco-psychology. With a profound commitment to supporting individuals on their journey of self-discovery. Sean integrates the wisdom of analytical psychology with the insights of eco-psychology to foster holistic growth and transformation.

Sean also incorporates eco-psychological practices into his sessions, encouraging clients to explore their relationship with nature as a source of healing and renewal. Whether through outdoor activities, nature-based rituals, or deep reflection on ecological principles,

That’s why Sean is currently in the pre-doc phase of his doctoral degree in psychology at the Pacifica Graduate Institute. This program, which focuses on a holistic, personalized, depth psychology approach, integrates modern Western practice with the wisdom of indigenous cultures and spiritual practice.

Mental health will probably never be as simple as taking a pill … but, it can be a wonderful adventure getting there.

Sean lives with his spoiled dog, bees, one self-confident cat, and four expressive chickens. When not studying or working with clients, he roves the quieter corners of the mountains.

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance."

Side-by-side together.

Being human can be hard. Sean was drawn to study depth psychology because the practitioner “sits with” the person and experiences their story alongside them. Rather than being in a one-up position, the depth practitioner can journey with the person.

Embracing the complexities.

Treatment is as nuanced as the human experience itself. While typical Western medicine assigns a label for a problem and a corresponding plan, depth psychology suggests that every individual’s background, story, strengths, and problems are unique, and if they’re treated as such, the person can attain better peace and contentment.

There’s no simple pill for wellness. But there is a path.

While wellness isn’t as simple as a flow chart, its complexities make it a fascinating adventure for those willing to undertake it. Dive in, muck around, read up, think deep. Challenge the beliefs limiting you. Explore just past the next corner and see what you’ll find.

With acceptance and support, you’ll have what it takes to get there.
